Mama Mia DVD Review
The catchy songs and beautiful scenery make Mama Mia a visual and auditory feast. The film is packed full of talented actors including Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgard as the three possible dads, and Meryl Streep in the lead role supported by Julie Waters and Christine Baranski as her quirky best friends.
Although sometimes a little long, the musical numbers are energetic and colorful, and it’s hard not to tap your toes or sing along under your breath. While some of the singers are a bit lacking in the vocal department, they make up for it with their enthusiasm.
It is also refreshing to see an equal mixture of young and mature actors sharing the screen and promoting the message that there is plenty of life and love still to be had - even after 50!
The tone of the movie is fun and quirky and can be over-the-top at times in the typical Broadway fashion.
Anyone who loves a good musical and enjoys seeing classical actors like Meryl and Pierce playing a totally different type of role than they usually do, will definitely enjoy this film.
